This month we travel to Summit County, Colorado. Summit County has four of North America's premier ski resorts; Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapaho Basin and Copper Mountain. Street View has taken to the slopes giving you the opportunity to paint from some of the best runs in the country. Breckenridge and Keystone specifically have Street View available on the ski areas terrain.

I included the entire county this month so that artists can find locations that appeal to them. There are many snow scenes in the town of Breckenridge and many scenes without snow in the rest of the county. Rocky Mountain views, lake views, urban, ranches and more to choose from.

Below is a map of Summit County. Please try to stay within the boundaries, which are roughly, The Eisenhower Tunnel to the east on I-70, Hoosier Pass to the south on Highway 9, Vail Pass to the west on I-70 and the Town of Henney to the north on Highway 9..

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING...

It is necessary to stress the importance of a couple of rules. One is the image size issue. It states in the rules in the right sidebar on this blog that the image has to be at a resolution of 72 and no larger than 1000 pixels on the widest side. Submissions not following the rules will not be posted.

IGNORE THE BLUE DOTS! It appears that Google has now added every user submitted photograph to the maps in the form of blue dots. Make sure your reference comes from the actual Street View application and not a photograph. Thanks.

Also, each artist must include the URL of the location that the artwork is based upon. To find the URL is easy. In the maps mode, while looking at your scene you have chosen, click the "LINK" button at the top LEFT of the screen, check the "Short URL" button. With that link highlighted simply copy it and paste into your email with your submission. (How do you not lose your location? Click "SEND" with your view up and email it to yourself.) Remember, these buttons are found at the top left of the map.

So there you go. Should be extremely easy. If your submission doesn't show up on the blog, please check the list near the top in the sidebar entitled, "Don't see your submission? This could be the reason..." Thanks.

This month we travel to Arles, France and the surrounding region. This area interests many artists due to the period of time Vincent van Gogh lived there. He produced some of his most iconic paintings while living the in Yellow House, with such subjects as wheat fields, sunflowers, bridges, people, buildings, streets, etc.

While Street View lacks in giving us access to all the streets of Arles, it does give us the opportunity to travel through some streets of the town and much of the surrounding countryside. I've included an area around Arles that compromises about 10 miles to the north, east and west of the city, and south to the coast. Van Gogh walked much of this area during his time here, so I thought it fitting to include more than the city itself.

With neighborhoods such as the French Quarter, the Warehouse District, Ninth Ward, Treme and so much more, New Orleans is sure to have something for everyone to draw or paint. The boundaries for this month are as follows: Lake Pontchartrain to the North, the Mississippi River to the South, Highway 47 to the East, and just west of the Louis Armstrong International Airport (the east and west borders can be seen on the map below).

The boundaries for this month are as follows: The Tanana River is the boundary on the south side of Fairbanks. Artists can use all the area north of the river, including Fairbanks, and up to Prudhoe Bay. Once you get out of Fairbanks the photo coverage is extremely sparse.

This month we travel to New Zealand. You can travel to both islands, as long as it's New Zealand you're good to go. Many different types of landscapes to choose from this month. Lots of urban, farms, mountains and beaches. Some of the cameras used to film NZ aren't that great, and don't think they used HD cameras there at all. But that's okay, still lots of beautiful scenery.

The devastating earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis has, if nothing else, shown the resiliency of the people of Japan.
